I was in Kaiserslautern yesterday and the nightsky looked pleasant. I could see the constellations Gemini, Canis Minor, Canis Major, Orion, Auriga and Perseus. Also seen were the Winter triangle, Winter Hexagon, the Big Dipper, the Moon and Mars. I made several photos but only this one of Orion and Canis Major appealed to me.
Below is the same photo but with the images inverted by GIMP. I thought it looked good and makes one see the trees better.
Below are the other pictures that we enhanced digitally with iPhoto. They
turned out better than I had imagined.
In the above image are the constellations: Auriga, Taurus, and Perseus, seen are the stars: Aldebaran, Algol, Alpha Persei / Mirfak, Capella
Seen in the above image are the stars: Cor Caroli, Benetnash (aka. eta ursae majoris), Mizar, Alioth, Megreth, Phecda, Merak, and Dubhe.
